La Idea: Unleashing Latino Entrepreneurship
In a sign of the increasing importance of Latino entrepreneurs, Univision will be co-hosting an event today in Washington, DC to kick off Global Entrepreneurship Week. The event, “Unleashing Idea”, will be streamed live on www.univisionnews.tumblr.com (in English) and www.univisiondinero.com (in Spanish) and will feature remarks from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President of Univision, Cesar Conde, and the President of the Inter-American Development Bank, Luis Alberto Moreno.
President Moreno, Under Secretary of State Maria Otero, and CEO of MPOWER Ventures, Roy Sosa, will participate in a panel discussion specifically about Latino entrepreneurship and how to expand your business by connecting with the fast-growing economies of Latin America. Univision correspondent Raul Peimbert will be the host.
In the current U.S. economic environment many of the small businesses that create growth and jobs in this country are struggling. They need a boost from somewhere. With this in mind, Univision is partnering with the Department of State and the Inter-American Development Bank to launch the Latino American Idea Parternship, or what we are calling: La Idea.
La Idea is a business competition platform which will aim to increase collaboration between U.S. Latino and Latin American entrepreneurs with the goal of expanding innovative businesses that will generate jobs and economic growth throughout the Americas. The initiative will provide support, guidance, and opportunities directly to U.S. Latino business owners.
Please stay tuned to the live-stream. There will be more information and some exciting announcements later today.
