The Kauffman Foundation in conjunction with Univision, the U.S. Department of State and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) kicked off Global Entrepreneurship Week on Monday with an event in Washington, DC focused on U.S. Latino entrepreneurs.
In a video address to the audience U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton launched the Latino Idea Partnership (La IdEA), a business competition, and announced that the US government had committed $100 million dollars to finance Latino businesses.

The International Diaspora Engagement Alliance (IdEA) is an innovative partnership platform, launched by Secretary of State Clinton in May 2011 to engage diaspora communities, the private sector, and public institutions in a collaborative process.
Speakers at the Monday event included Luis Alberto Moreno, President of the IDB, Cesar Conde, President of Univision Networks, Carl Schramm, President and CEO of the Kauffman Foundation, Elizabeth Littlefield, President and CEO of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), and senior State Department Officials. Raul Peimbert moderated a panel which included Under-Secretary of State for Global Affairs Maria Otero and MPOWER CEO and Chairman Roy Sosa.
