Legendary Spanish artist Antoni Miralda unveiled his latest creation, titled “Digestible News”, at the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) during the opening day of Art Basel in Miami. The piece is a collaborative performance in which anyone can participate by creating and eating edible newspapers.
Thanks to edible paper and sugar-based ink, participants could design their own section of the newspaper like Horoscope, Politics or Culture. Once the paper was designed, then they could eat it and share with others.
“This is a proposal for people to think about what they eat, what they receive as information” the artist told Univision News, “this is Digestible News, now if they don’t digest well and they un-digest their own news…its not my fault.” Miralda has been experimenting with food in his pieces since the 1960s. “People not only need food for survival, people also eat food to communicate,” he added.
