Actress Eva Longoria was named to a roster of 35 volunteer national co-chairs for President Obama’s reelection effort, the campaign announced Wednesday.

It’s one of the splashiest moves yet in the political arena for the “Desperate Housewives” star as she has become more and more politically involved as the election nears. The Texas native co-hosted a high-profile Latino fundraiser in Los Angeles for the President in October and is listed as a so-called “bundler” for the campaign, raising between $200,000 and $500,000.

Longoria hasn’t been shy about criticizing Obama’s GOP rivals either. Before last month’s Florida primary, she slammed Mitt Romney on Twitter for opposing the DREAM Act and hit Newt Gingrich for his comments on the work ethic of poor children.

Other notable Latinos who were named as co-chairs were Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairman Charlie Gonzalez (D-Texas), Los Angeles County AFl-CIO chief Maria Elena Durazo, San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, and former Clinton Energy and Transportation Secretary Federico Peña.
