Obama campaign launches Spanish-language site for Latinos

President Obama’s reelection campaign on Thursday rolled out a Spanish-language website designed to connect with Latino voters.
The site, BarackObama.com/es, contains campaign literature on jobs, the economy, and immigration as well as social media tools and portals to accept campaign donations and sign up volunteers. The Spanish site accompanies the campaign’s existing English-language website for Latinos.
“The launch of BarackObama.com/es is part of our campaign’s ongoing efforts to recognize and actively engage the multi-faceted, diverse and bilingual Latino community,” said Obama’s national Latino vote director, Adrian Saenz. “[The site] highlights the issues that are most important to the Latino community, in Spanish, and makes it that much easier for Latinos to learn about the presidents’ accomplishments, and get involved.”
Launched the day after a Republican presidential debate in Arizona, a hotbed for the nation’s fiery immigration debate, the site includes a three-minute web video promoting the president’s support for the DREAM Act and attacking GOP candidates for opposing it.
Looking to rekindle Latino enthusiasm for his campaign, Obama also appeared on Univision Radio this week where he rejected the notion he broke his promise on immigration reform and expressed confidence he would get it done in a second term.
“My presidency is not over, I’ve got another five years coming up. We’re going to get this done,” he said.
The Republican National Committee has also launched Latino outreach efforts online and on the ground. The party has a bilingual Tumblr and website, which was launched in October.
