Ready for a childhood flashback?
El Show del Chavo finally makes it way to U.S. stages starting this month in Indianapolis, IN. The beloved characters of the series El Chavo del Ocho, created by the legendary Mexican actor and writer Roberto Gómez Bolaños, who captivated audiences for decades on TV, has come to life on the stage. This time, the gang is uniting to stop the evil Rufino Malacara from demolishing their neighborhood.
Notably absent from the roll call is La Chilindrina, the pigtailed girl infamous for crying to get her way and played by Mexican actress Maria Antonieta de las Nieves in the long-running TV series. Not to fret, the usual antics of the gang and Chavo’s catch phrase “fue sin querer queriendo” have made their way onto the script.
The animated musical is slated to open April 20 and move its way to major hubs like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, among other cities.
