Music tours coming your way this spring and summer

Yandel, J.Lo and Enrique Iglesias at a press conference for their tour on Monday.

By AMARIS CASTILLO

It seems as though the entire world is on tour right now - or prepping for one.

A slew of artists have already solidified plans to take a stage near you very soon. For your convenience, we have compiled a handy list of tours. For those we missed, comment below!

Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Wisin y Yandel

On Monday, the three acts announced in Los Angeles that they are embarking on a summer tour. Most recently, Lopez unveiled “Follow the Leader,” a collabo with Wisin y Yandel. The 20-city tour kicks off nationwide starting July 14, 2012, with more dates to be announced. This is the first time J.Lo will embark on a world tour, and later this year, the superstar is set to perform a series of gigs in Latin America (including Brazil).

Maná

Seeing these guys perform has taken on a different meaning, after the Latin rock band made history recently with their sold-out show record at Los Angeles’ Staples Center arena, surpassing the likes of Taylor Swift and Madonna. Maná is currently on their “Drama y Luz” U.S. tour and will stop by select cities (Phoenix, AZ and Denver, CO, to name a few) until May 11, when it wraps up in Miami, FL.

Rodrigo y Gabriela

It’s a great time for Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero. Not only does the talented Mexican duo have their new Area 52 album out, but they’re also currently on their Spring 2012 tour with C.U.B.A. It’s a pretty big deal, since it marks the first time Rod y Gab have a backing band as accompaniment. We spoke to Sánchez recently in Los Angeles about his and Quintero’s experience with the making of Area 52, which was turned into a documentary film. Click here to see if the duo is coming to your area.

Outernational

The band is deep into their “Todos Somos Ilegales: We Are All Illegals” tour, pegged to their new album with the same title. Outernational has stopped by Texas already and most recently, Arizona, keeping a diary of their time through the state’s border regions. For May Day today, the band will perform at some day time rallies and next week, will share a Texan stage with Puerto Rican urban duo Calle 13.

Locos Por Juana

Coming off the heels of their new single “Afro Sound,” the Miami-bred band kicked off their “Somos de la Calle Spring Tour 2012” recently at the University of Wisconsin. From there, Locos Por Juana is bringing their fusion sounds to nine cities, including Miami and Chicago. The tour wraps up on May 26 in Key West, FL.

Ana Tijoux

The Grammy-nominated Chilean rapper is headlining her first ever US tour, in support of her new album La Bala. The tour, which kicks off this upcoming Friday at New Mexico State University, will include stops in Austin, TX, and Los Angeles.

The Pinker Tones

This is a big year for the Barcelona-based electro-rockers. Not only are they jumping on tour after their forthcoming album Life In Stereo drops on May 15, 2012, but they are also celebrating a decade together as a band. Their US tour will stop through Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Austin, and El Paso.

Céu

In support of her new (and third) travel-inspired album Caravana Sereia Bloom, the Brazilian singer/songwriter will head to North America starting this June. Céu’s album debuted at #1 on the iTunes Brazilian Chart.

Demi Lovato

Having just completed a tour in South America, the 19-year-old teen queen is set to make her rounds in the U.S. this summer. Lovato’s tour kicks off on June 12, 2012 in Del Mar, CA and wraps up on September 1, 2012 in Salem, OR. Stops include Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Boston. Hopefully, this time though, Lovato won’t get rushed by crazed fans.

Joan Sebastian, Pepe Aguilar and Shaila Durcal

Mexican music giants Joan Sebastian and Pepe Aguilar are teaming up for the Dejando Huella… Una Historia Musical tour, which kicks off June 22 in Washington, D.C. The tour, which will hit 15 major markets and features a Latin music equestrian show, will also include Spanish-born singer Shaila Durcal as an opener on most stops. Click here for tickets.

Carlos Santana

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer never gets old. Santana will be performing a string of dates with the Santana band as part of The Shape Shifter Tour 2012. The tour kicks off on July 7, 2012 in Hinckley, MN, following the maestro’s forthcoming album of the same name (out May 15).

Marc Anthony, Marco Antonio Solís, Chayanne

This is a formula that could work. Marc Anthony has performed alongside Marco Antonio Solís and Chayanne individually in the past, but never have the three Latin music idols been on the same stage together. Titled Gigant3S, the tour kicks off on August 3, 2012 and will end in Las Vegas on September 14.
