Presenting our ‘On The J.Low’ column: your new home for all things Jennifer Lopez
By ANGIE ROMERO
Here’s the deal. At some point, it became obvious to me that we can’t be writing a post for every breaking piece of Jennifer Lopez news. J.Lo stubs her toe. J.Lo buys Casper a Transformer yacht. J.Lo signs another endorsement deal.
It’s just not efficient.
Instead, we’re rolling out a column called ‘On The J.Low,’ where we’ll regularly talk about what the busiest star in the universe is up to. Luckily, we’ll never run out of material.
You should know that I’m a self-proclaimed “J.Lover for life” and that I firmly believe that if you don’t love Jennifer, then you don’t love yourself. If you disagree, then you’re welcome to sound off in the comments. Or you and I can arrange a time to take our hoops off and settle this somewhere in person.
But please, absolutely no hateration.
This week, even though her rom-com What to Expect When You’re Expecting is still in theaters, it was all about American Idol, as Lopez lit up the stage for the show’s grand, 128-minute finale on Wednesday night.
Presenting her new single ‘Goin In” featuring Flo Rida (from the upcoming and completely uneccesary Step Up: The Revolution movie), she worked up a sweat onstage in a casual yet chic white get-up reminiscent of her On The 6 days.
As she’d say, she went “orangutan, bananas!”
But she didn’t stop there. Nooo. A partially corn-rowed Lopez also brought out her homies Wisin y Yandel for a first-ever TV performance of their song “Follow The Leader,” which if you ask me, is one of the more lackluster songs she’s had in a minute, but that’s besides the point. It was a big moment for Puerto Rico.
If Lopez isn’t coming back to Idol — and that’s a decision she has yet to share publicly — then this was the perfect way to go out with a bang. I wonder what Fox will pay to keep the most powerful celebrity in the world from walking away. She may be busy, but for the right amount, she can always find the time…
Lopez wasn’t the only star in the room last night. Jordin Sparks, Chaka Khan, Fantasia Barrino, Reba McEntire, and others dropped by Idol on Wednesday to perform.
Original Dreamgirl Jennifer Holliday joined season fave Jessica Sanchez for the duet, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”
Now that Battleship is out of the way, Rihanna also came through and showed off her gams, with some trapeze artists and shirtless drummers in tow. But we have to say, if it was a dance-off, La Lopez murdered it, as always.
On that note: I still haven’t decided which city to hit up for her tour this summer. Have you?
The tour is only getting bigger, with Lopez securing her first Middle East performance in Dubai on November 22 (my sis lives there, so I may just hop over the pond for that one). That’s how deep my love goes.
Speaking of the tour, word on the street is Casper Smart will have cameras following him around as he whips back-up dancers into shape. It’s all part of his own reality show on Oxygen.
P.S. Congrats to Idol winner Phillip Phillips! I almost forgot the show was about you.
