Day 1 of PJ rehearsals: Prince Royce has muscles, 3Ball MTY confirms Don Omar collabo & more!

His name is Super-Rrrroyce…

By CAROLINA DEL BUSTO & EBONY MONTENEGRO

Where have we been all day? Backstage at rehearsals for Premios Juventud (or PJ, as we call it) of course! The theme at this year’s awards show, taking place this Thursday from the Bank United Center in Miami, is #Superheroes, so as you can imagine, we’re having a blast with all of the artists who come through our station. See what Beatriz Luengo, Prince Royce, Leslie Grace, and 3Ball MTY had to say, and check back in with us each day this week for more PJ goodies!

Beatriz Luengo

She’s got one of our favorite smiles.

Backstage after rehearsing her girl power-filled performance for Premios Juventud, Beatriz Luengo shared with us what superhero she’d love to be and what powers she would have.

“If I could be a superhero, I’d be Catwoman,” she said. “I love her climbing on roofs. And if I had one superpower, I think it would be nice to have a magic wand and make everyone have to smile all the time, no? Make everyone happy like that.”

Awww…

Leslie Grace

The next bachata princess? We think so.

Leslie Grace chatted with us after rehearsing “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” the song she’ll be performing for the very first time on TV at PJ. As Prince Royce’s labelmate at Top Stop Music, she says she’s excited to meet him.”He’s my label mate but I actually haven’t had the privilege of meeting him yet,” she said. “I’ve spoken to him on the phone and he’s given me some good advice. He’s been through what I’m going through, so it’s cool. He’s a very  nice guy.”

How cute would it be for these two to get together? We’d have our very own bachata royal wedding one day!

Until then, check out our full video interview with Leslie Grace here.

Prince Royce

Look who’s been working out!

Prince Royce showed off his biceps and told us why he loves the humanity in certain superheroes more than anything else.

“Superman, Wonder Woman, the Hulk, these are all superheroes that had something chemical happen to them or they’re from another planet,” he said, “but what I’ve always loved about Batman or Bruce Wayne is first, that he was always smooth with the ladies, and second, he’s a human being, he’s intelligent, and he created his own gadgets. I think it shows a lot of strength for humans, it shows that you don’t have to be from Mars or have chemically enhanced DNA to become a superhero.”

Matt Hunter

Between he and Prince Royce, there was a healthy dose of swag today at rehearsals.

The 14-year-old who once voiced Diego from Dora The Explorer is all grown up and ready to impress audiences as a performer during PJ this Thursday. We were super impressed because he aced our superheroes trivia game! A sample of what we asked him:

This guy uses a giant hammer and is super strong. Answer: Thor.

3Ball MTY

How would you fill in the blanks?

These three young and hip DJs (Erick Rincon, Sheeqo Beat, and DJ Otto) recently made an appearance in New York City during Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), and today during rehearsals we were able to catch up to them to talk a little bit about their upcoming sophomore album, opening up for Justin Bieber, and the infamous botas picudas trend – check back in tomorrow for our full interview with the boys.

One thing we can reveal: Don Omar is going to do a remix of their smash hit, “Intentalo” and they couldn’t be more excited. “Don Omar is going to do a remix with the same beat, but he is going to throw in some of his own verses,” said Rincon. “It’s official already.”
