How eccentric will Lady Gaga’s character be in Machete Kills?
As with every move she makes (and photo she tweets), Lady Gaga once again made headlines recently after Machete Kills director Robert Rodriguez announced on Twitter that he had just finished working with the pop star. That’s right - the Mother Monster is set to make her film debut in the sequel to 2010’s Machete.
According to Rodriguez, the 26-year-old pop superstar “kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!”
Gaga herself confirmed the news on Twitter, expressing her excitement and describing the filming as “insane.”
In Machete Kills, Danny Trejo’s titular bad-ass is recruited by the U.S. government to stop a Mexican cartel leader (Demian Bichir, in what looks like the only role he can get after being nominated for an Oscar) from launching a missile. But he’ll have to fight with not one but two villains — the other being billionaire arms dealer Luther Voz, played by Mel Gibson.
Oh, and just in case you needed another reason to see it, Charlie Sheen will play the president of the United States.
But we can’t forget about the females who dominate the action film, due in 2013. Gaga will be in good company with Sofia Vergara, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexa Vega, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez, and others.

Jessica Alba
She’s back in Machete Kills as U.S. Immigrations Agent Sartana Rivera, a border agent with a heart of gold (and Machete’s love interest). Who can forget her rousing speech to a group of disaffected immigrants in Machete when she yells the classic line, “we didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us!” Too bad her role in this one is said to be short-lived, after a deadly run in with cartels.

Lady Gaga
Not much has been revealed about Gaga’s character, only that her name is La Chameleón. By the looks of this poster, though, her character is a Marilyn wanna-be and a perfect PETA target.

Michelle Rodriguez
M-Rod is returning to the Machete film franchise, reprising her double role of Luz/She, an expert multi-tasker who runs both a taco truck that feeds day laborers and an underground network that helps undocumented immigrants once they’ve crossed the border into Texas. Is anything cooler than that eye-patch?

Sofia Vergara
There’s no official poster of the Colombian bombshell yet, but here’s a screen-grab from a teaser that Entertainment Tonight aired of the forty-and-fab actress in leather to hold you over. She’s a dominatrix in the film. Shocking!

Alexa Vega
The newly-divorced actress posted an Instagram photo of herself in costume as her character Kill Joy from the film, adding that director Robert Rodriguez gave her permission to do so. Looks like the Spy Kids alum is all grown up!
