If this really happened, Selena Quintanilla’s “Amor Prohibido” (“Forbidden Love”) song has taken on a whole new meaning.
It’s been 17 years since the late Tejano singer was murdered, but Selena continues to be on our minds. And apparently she’s also been on the mind of a Mexican plastic surgeon who says he had an affair with the beloved superstar.
After having denied rumors of any romantic involvement with Selena for almost two decades, Ricardo Martínez has now chosen to speak out to Univision’s Primer Impacto about his alleged affair with the singer. Martínez says that he was in love with Selena while she was married to her band’s lead guitarist Chris Perez. Perez recently penned a loving memoir titled To Selena, With Love, in which details the life he shared with Selena, from the moment they met until the day of her death and beyond.
If news of Martínez’s outpouring wasn’t enough, Primer Impacto also reached out to Selena’s convicted killer, Yolanda Saldivar, who reiterated that the singer was in love with the doctor. Perez also shares his insight about the entire situation, refusing to believe his late wife was unfaithful.
The special primetime edition of Primer Impacto is set to air this upcoming Sunday on Primer Impacto at 7 p.m. ET/PT (6 p.m. Central). You don’t want to miss this.
